Another 24 hour Katrina anniversary blogathon

For the second time I am going to attempt a 24 hour blogathon. Last year I wrote up my thoughts on a wide range of topics in honor of the first anniversary of the storm that changed to lives of everyone in New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina and the Federal Flood combined during an event that began with landfall two years ago today. If you would like to send in your own personal Katrina story for me (or anyone else on the BloggingNewOrleans team) to write up for this site, just click on the Tips link to the right.

Let's start off on a strange note, George W. Bush is in town yet again to participate in our city's rememberance of the event that started and continued during a vacation of his two years ago. Unfortunately his visit brings with it the temporary shot down of one of the symbols of our recovery. The historic New Orleans streetcar line will not be running today as a 'security' measure for the president's visit to downtown New Orleans. I guess the Secret Service was afraid someone might may a car skip off the tracks and distract for another stump speech in front of Jackson Square.
