Governor Blanco has decided to bypass Washington's hesitance to fund a new Charity by devoting only state funds towards the new hospital. Then through some shifting around of money as the federal dollars come in, the Road Home gap will be filled as well. I'm fuzzy on the math but it looks like Blanco has the support of the LRA while simultaneously telling HUD to screw themselves -- which is fine with me.I can't help but wonder if Blanco is putting so much focus into this project not only because we desperately need the facility here but also because she is looking for one positive, solid reminder of her time as governor rather than the muddled legacy that she is bound to leave post-K. A hospital is one think but I'd rather she not build any bridges.
