Former New Orleanian Christal recently commented to let me know about a fundraiser she's doing for The Green Project. It felt like a crazy coincidence when I read her comment, because I've also been hosting a fundraiser for this local eco-friendly organization on my own blog since the beginning of March. We're both trying to promote our fundraisers through the use of giveaways. As a crafter, I rounded up some unique handmade items to include in a gift basket, many of which are made from recycled materials or by local artists (or both!). The winner will be drawn at random at the end of this month from the list of those who donated money to The Green Project through the fundraiser. Christal has also put together eco-friendly prize packages with reusuable bags from some of my favorite companies, including Envirosax, Ecoist, and Ideal Bite, as well as a ton of other green items. For every donation that is made to Christal's fundraiser, you'll be entered into a raffle which will be held on April 26.
The Green Project is an amazing organization based here in New Orleans that salvages and recycles building supplies and other materials. Their work, which provides low cost building materials, has become particularly important as this area works to rebuild. Recycle for the Arts is a subset of The Green Project which offers recycled art workshops and provides recycled art materials to local artists, schools, and art programs.
