1. Screwed again! You screwed yourself by making a decision to live there. It really upsets me that the people of New Orleans continuously blames the Bush Admin. when their own state government and local govermnment felt that it was not of great danger to evac their citizens. Seems you would be more upset with the news clips showing hundreds of buses (School and Transit) sitting still in the flood waters. I'm sick and tired of the people of this great nation sitting back on their a__ and not doing anything to help theirselves and turn right around and blame the same people who comw to their rescue, such as your worthless governer who felt designer safari clothing appropiate to tour the damage. Next election ........GET OFF YOUR WHINING BUTT AND ELECT SOMEONE FROM A NEARBY STATE WHO IS NOT A CROOK!

2. That's an interesting comment Brian, thank you. I totally agree with your comments about personal responsibility, that is why when the mayor declared a mandatory evacuation, I gathered my family and pets and got the hell out of Dodge. I am not sure how much the city could have done for people who refused to leave their homes before the storm but there should have been a quicker response afterwards.

The entire Katrina aftermath was a failure of all levels of government. However, lessons should have been learned and the federal government should be providing us with safe levees and pumps.

3. which state evac'd the citizens brian? In Texas during Rita not a month after Katrina a busload of seniors died in a bus fire in poorly managed evacuation traffic. In Mississippi before Katrina contraflow what almost no implemented cause they didn't want to deal with out people. oh and their extremely small coastal population (there are no major cities in southern Mississippi and Picayune doesn't count) made it easy for those who want to leave to leave. Though many didn't because of a lowered state of emergency there.

No the problem with all of this is a national political misconception about who we should help and why. If the governor is Republican then Republicans will help if the governor is Democrat then Democrats can help. If only New Orleans was actually in the Third World instead of treated like it all of this might of never went down the way it did. Of course if we were 3rd world, we wouldn't of had FEMA to 'help' us or the corps to build the levee 'system' or the president to come to town and 'promise' to rebuild us.
