Commander's Palace (famous New Orleans restaurant formerly one of the best in the country) will be reopening for brunch this Sunday, October 1, 2006. Although their website doesn't mention the reopening I have direct confirmation from the mother of one of the wait staff (one of the best table captains in the place). This landmark is known worldwide for its food, service, and personality. Unfortunately for me the menu is a little above my price range, by the food is definitely worth it.
Commander's is in the Garden District of uptown New Orleans and has been open since 1880. This is the best and oldest of the Brennan family restaurants and a must for locals and tourists alike. Commander's is on the corner of Coliseum and Washington off of St. Charles.
Their website includes a couple recipes and a full history of the landmark our city has been missing since Katrina. Plus you can check out their menus and decide what you want before you get there.

1. Hooray! I saw a news story on the renovations and they looked like they were in so far over their head, I thought that they were never going to re-open!
