A couple of people I work with have said they will be avoiding Katrina and hurricanes and damage accessments at all costs today. One said he would only watch PBS if he needed TV and if they took up Katrina... Well the screen would be darkened till the 30th. If you don't want Katrina in your face today, how can you avoid the rememberance? What can you do?
Well, don't read the paper, don't turn on any news channel, don't listen to most radio stations. If you must surf the web try to avoid anything with New Orleans or Gulf Coast or hurricane or weather or even Coastal Erosion in the title or description. Heck you may not even want to go online at all, unless you're surfing those sites that could lose you a job or wife. You could read a nice book, but try to not pick up ones that mention people trying to survive disaster or rebuild after extreme hardship. Maybe you could pick up a magazine... of course you will need to avoid anything with a celebrity on the cover (they could be raising money for Katrina victims), but you probably should avoid those on a normal basis anyway...
Or, maybe you could avoid Katrina rememberance with a little Rita rememberance or Wilma or Georges or Andrew or Hugo or even Lilly. Maybe focusing on how to recover for all natural disasters will help you avoid the specifics and despressing details of this one. I for one plan to divert my attention away from myself and onto those less fortunate, like those in St. Bernard Parish who came back to empty foundations and those in Metairie who rented apartments and now have been forced out due to rising pricings and not Renter-road-home program...
Who are you focusing on? How would you avoid rememberance?
What's going on here? Why am I posting so much? Today, in honor of Katrina I am attempting a 24 hour 24 post blogathon.
